Airbus A318-111 Manufacturer Serial Number 2051 first flew on 23rd September 2003 under the test registration D-AUAE. She was delivered to US low cost carrier, Frontier Airlines, a month later on 23rd October registered as N804FR.
Frontier was the launch customer for the A318 series and, at the time of delivery, prided itself on being ‘America’s greenest airline’. Its Airbus fleet each featured a different animal species on the tail and wing fences, with N804FR featuring a pair of fox cubs named Mo and Jo.
She would ply her trade around the continental US and Caribbean for the next 8 years, before entering storage in 2011. She would return to Europe in 2012 for part out and scrapping and was finally dismantled at Lourdes Tarbes airport.
The port wing tip assembly, complete with wing tip fence was amongst the components recovered for spares usage, although these never found another user and were eventually due to be scrapped in the UK in 2022. Aerotiques rescued them and set about creating this unique desk.
During the stripping and polishing process, much to our surprise, Mo & Jo made another appearance, beneath several layers of paint! Sadly, the condition of their graphic was beyond saving and we continued with the planned mirror finish.
The two tier desk with 10mm toughened glass tops features data/power access and sits on a bespoke set of steel legs, which feature the A318 logo. LED navigation and strobe lighting can be fitted to the original lens aperture if desired. Adjustable chrome feet complete the stylish look.
